Feds' Terrorist Watchlist Omits Detroit Bomber, Nabs Cub Scout

As we've reported before, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), encouraged by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, wants to prohibit anyone on the FBI's terrorist watchlist from possessing a firearm. Yet, the list and its criteria are secret, and Lautenberg's bill would criminalize the exercise of a constitutionally protected right while denying a person the opportunity to clear himself of accusations in a fair and open hearing before a court of law. Even today, thousands of people who aren't terrorists cannot prevent the list from misidentifying them, causing them delays and embarrassment when trying to board commercial aircraft.

It's one thing when an adult gets the run-around at an airport, because he or she has a name identical or similar to someone the FBI is watching. As the American Civil Liberties Union has pointed out, the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) "automatic selectee" list -- its list of people who are not permitted to board an aircraft without being given the once-over by the agency's machines and uniformed, latex-gloved personnel -- is based on people's names, not on physical factors like age.

But when the system is so unorganized that it cannot distinguish a kid from a terrorist, what's going on here?

Ohio GOP chair Kevin DeWine attempts to clear path for anti-gun cousin Mike's return to power

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

On November 25, 2009 I wrote an article entitled "Ohio Attorney General race highlights fight for heart & soul of state Republican party." Today, Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine is offering AG candidate Dave Yost a chance to sell his soul to the devil.

According to the Dayton Daily News, Kevin DeWine has asked conservative, pro-gun Delaware County Prosecutor Dave Yost to suspend his campaign for attorney general, and run instead for state auditor, setting up a primary battle with conservative, pro-gun state Rep. Seth Morgan. If Yost takes the bait (his campaign says he is "strongly considering" it), this will clear the field for the chairman's liberal, anti-gun cousin Mike DeWine to win the party nomination for attorney general.

The U.N. Gun Ban Treaty That Threatens Your Gun Rights

by Gerard Valentino

U.N. Gun BanDuring his presidential campaign, Barack Obama assured gun owners that he was no threat to gun rights. And so far, his administration has publicly steered clear of the issue. After all, Obama knows that a direct assault on the Second Amendment would be political suicide.

However, behind the scenes, he and his staff have shown support for the U.N. Gun Ban, an international treaty on small arms sales that could sidestep established American gun rights and pose a serious threat to the Second Amendment.

But how could a U.N. Gun Ban affect the rights of Americans?

The United Nations is a favorite weapon used by left-leaning activists to launch stealth attacks on American interests. Over the years, leftist ideologues have tried to empower the U.N. to govern our right to fight just wars and the right to control our own pollution standards. And now this steadily advancing treaty seeks to govern our right to bear arms.
